Kate, the older twin by 9 minutes, has been swimming for over 20 years from the Midwest to Los Angeles. She loves being able to experience new places and introduce people to the sport of artistic swimming through Aqualillies. Driven by her endless curiosity, she is inspired by the glamour of classic films, Dell mapback books of the 1940s, the Corvus genus, California modern architecture, and the many multidisciplinary artists in her community of Northeast Los Angeles. When not in the water, she studies and works in the GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives & Museums) space.
Carla has a natural affinity for being synchronized… because she’s a twin! She loves the calmness of being underwater, the vivid colors of giallo films, and hosting dinner parties with friends. Some of her favorite moments with Aqualillies include swimming in diamond jewelry for Hermès, being on camera in Hail, Caesar! by Coen Brothers, being published in AnOther Magazine, and working behind the scenes in-house at the company for 10+ years. When she’s not in the water, Carla can be found savoring a martini at home or stargazing in the desert.
