TRANSFORMING POOLS INTO GRAND STAGES
Reporter: This isn’t your grandmother’s synchronized swimming… the Aqualillies, that’s what got our attention. They are doing amazing beautiful moves in the pool…
Mary: “Aqualillies has been around since 2008, it started in Hollywood, California, we are a water ballet performance company, and we have teams in Los Angeles, New York, Miami, San Francisco, and Las Vegas, and we basically take that 1940s vintage Esther Williams vibe and modernize it for a current audience.”
Reporter: “What I love is that you can be at a super swanky rooftop pool or you do private shows in people’s homes; what is that like?”
Mary: “It’s great to perform at all different types of venues, and we really love bringing water ballet to you, you know you’re usually used to seeing your performance on stage or going to a theater, but Aqualillies really breaks that fourth wall, we bring the party to your backyard and everyone is buzzing when we leave. It’s something so original.”
Reporter: “and I love that you got to perform for the woman herself, Esther Williams!”
Mary: “Performing for Esther Williams was a dream come true, she is our inspiration and we really look to her for everything that we are and that we’ve done.”
Reporter: “and what was her response to you guys?”
Mary: “Esther was SO excited to watch us actually, it was such an honor, she sat by the pool during our entire rehearsal and said she didn’t want to miss a minute of it.”
